COVENTRY, RI — Overnight curfews are no longer in place in Coventry. Town leadership rescinded the executive order Wednesday morning. A curfew was announced Tuesday night, lasting from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and lasting until further notice. Curfews were announced in several other towns including Cranston, Providence and Warwick following a night of violent demonstrations in downtown Providence that left stores looted, windows broken and vehicles burned. Local and state police and members of the National Guard stepped up security at the Warwick Mall, Garden City Center and other areas overnight to discourage further acts of violence.
