WOODBRIDGE, VA — Police arrested a 13-year-old in Woodbridge this week. Authorities accused the teen of robbing another child at knifepoint at Porter Traditional School. The robbery occurred on March 10 between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., police said. The victim, who police only identified as a 12-year-old boy, was at the school's outdoor basketball courts when another boy approached him. The second boy, who police described as a 13-year-old, took the 12-year-old's jacket. When the victim tried to get his jacket back, the other boy pulled out a knife, according to police. The 13-year-old then left the area on his bicycle. Neither of the boys reported injuries during the encounter. The robbery was reported to school staff members the next morning. The school then notified the police department. Police identified the 13-year-old during their investigation. Authorities did not release his name due to a Virginia law designed to protect the identities of minors. On Monday, police arrested the boy. He is charged with one count of robbery. The police department said he is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center and his court date is pending. Have a story idea?
