GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department said they have made nine arrests involving intoxicated drivers since March 14, and they're warning residents about the dangers of drunk driving. "The threat of DWI to a community is real, and the impact of one drunk driving incident can destroy many lives in a blink of an eye," the GPD said in a Facebook post. "We must look out for our friends and family and not let them drink and drive. Further, there are many options one can make to get home safe, and there is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while drunk." According to the GPD, three of the recent arrests were related to collisions, and three of the drivers were found passed out behind the wheel. "The Greenwich Police Department endeavors to make the roadways safe within the Town of Greenwich by supporting and participating with local community groups to help educate the community about drunk driving and substance abuse," the department added. "We will always enforce motor vehicle laws and remove drunk drivers from the roadway."
