Here are the top five stories today in Irving: A carjacker was sentenced this week to 14 years in prison for his 2020 crime. Markus Vine pled guilty to stealing a vehicle at gunpoint in Irving and using it to rob two gas stations. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth) Keep Texas Beautiful, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, has named Irving among the Texas cities to receive Governer's Achievement Awards. The citation recognizes municipalities for environmental and community achievements. Irving will share the $2 million prize with ten other communities. (Irving Weekly)A local organization is working tirelessly to ensure fewer kittens are euthanized. Operation Kindness will soon open a nursery to offer neonatal care for orphaned kittens who are especially at risk for euthanization because of weakened immune systems and the inability to eat on their own until they're about four weeks old.
