ARNOLD, MD — A women's lacrosse player made headlines after a standout performance for the Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks.
The athlete, Elsa Skinner, was named the NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for games ending March 13. Judges made their decision on March 16. AACC announced Skinner's award last Thursday.
Skinner scored four goals in the Riverhawks' only game that week, which was their season opener. The freshman midfielder also tallied an assist in that 16-4 win at NCAA Division II Alderson Broaddus University on March 11.
The Annapolis native followed that with three goals and two assists on March 15 against Post University. Despite Skinner's effort, AACC lost that home opener 15-13.
The third-ranked Riverhawks are back in action this weekend with two road games in upstate New York.
AACC will visit No. 2 Onondaga Community College Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The squad will then travel to No. 4 Monroe Community College for a Sunday match-up at noon.
The Riverhawks are 1-1 on the year.
