SALEM, NH — Residents of Salem who are not registered to vote yet have a few opportunities to do so before the special election in April for a new charter commission. The supervisors of the checklist will host a session from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 9 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, for the purpose of registering new voters, Kelly Anne Dortona, a supervisor, said. During these two sessions, registered voters can also change their political affiliation or correct existing information like street addresses. It will be one of the last opportunities to register to vote or change information before the April 26 special election. New Hampshire also has same-day registration with the proper documentation, she said. To register to vote, residents need picture identification and proof of domicile. A driver's license is acceptable, she said. Naturalized citizens must show a passport or documented citizenship papers. Residents can also register to vote at the town clerk's office any time during regular office hours through April 8. Copies of the voter checklist are available to view at the Kelley Library reference desk and the town clerk's office. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
