CHURCHVILLE, PA — A Northampton Township man's helpful act was mistaken for child luring, according to police. The Northampton Township Police Department published a community update on social media that clarified an incident that recently occurred at a Churchville bus stop. According to police, the Churchville man stopped behind a bus and got out of his car. He walked up to the bus driver to ask if his neighbor's child was on the bus. "The subject was looking to see if his neighbor's child was on the bus because he was informed by the neighbor that the child forgot to get off," the Northampton Township Police Department said. When the bus driver informed the man that the child was not on the bus, he walked back to his car and drove away. The incident was mistaken for an act of child luring by a concerned parent, who recorded the moment on a video that went viral. Police say they spoke to both parties and determined it was not child luring. "We wanted to let the residents know that we have confirmed there was no attempted child luring that took place yesterday," the police department said. "It was a misunderstanding." This misunderstanding took place around the same time as a confirmed attempt at child luring outside of Pennsbury High School, which occurred on the afternoon of Friday, March 18.
