Press release from the City of Hammond: POSTED: August 17, 2020 Job Posting: Laborer POSTED: August 17, 2020 CATEGORY: Job Posting, News, Personnel Department: Sanitary District Job Title: Laborer Date Requested: August 14, 2020 Date needed: ASAP Salary: $19.08 per hour, full time (Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, Saturday & Sunday off) Job Requirements Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions Ability to use hand and power tools Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable Subject to 24-hour call-out for emergencies Must maintain cooperative relationship with those in contact with during the course of work Job Responsibilities Cleaning tanks when removed from service Shoveling snow and operating snow blower Janitorial duties throughout all stations General landscaping Collect screenings from stations Assisting Mechanics and Mechanic Helpers as needed Any other labor task assigned by Labor Foreman, Superintendent of Maintenance or Superintendent of Operations Must maintain attendance record with few or no absences or tardiness Position will be posted internally only from August 14, 2020 until August 20, 2020.
