Ravinia 2022 Season Lineup Released, Over 100 Concerts Scheduled

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A full season of shows is scheduled this summer at Ravinia Festival for the first time since 2019. Organizers on Thursday released the lineups for more than 100 concerts (see below) planned for the festival's four venues from May 20 to Sept. 18. "Ravinia is the premier music destination each summer for listeners of all generations," said Jeffrey Haydon, president and chief executive officer of the Ravinia Festival Association, in a statement announcing the 2022 lineup. Fifty artists are due to make their Ravinia debuts this year, including Pitbull, Erykah Badu, The Black Crowes, Grace Potter and Ziggy Marley. Among the popular musical acts set to return and Sting, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. "We have a robust lineup of more than 100 events ranging from global music, jazz, country, and hip-hop, to indie rock, pop, family shows, and of course, classical, featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in residence. We also have chamber music and recitals, films with live scores, our annual celebration of Mexican music and culture, reggae, and American Songbook—truly something for everyone," Haydon added. (Courtesy Ravinia Festival Association) More performances at the outdoor Carousel stage, which was introduced during the 2021 season, will be announced later in the spring. Organizers plan to offer more casual concerts and opening acts on the stage on the north lawn. During performances on the main stage, all seats in the Pavilion are reserved, with premium areas of the south lawn available for groups of up to two, four or six, featuring a dedicated screen showing the stage. Tickets to the north lawn will be sold as general admission, with a slightly reduced capacity. Festival organizers previously announced plans for the first annual Breaking Barriers festival, a three-day event curated by Chief Conductor Marin Alsop that celebrates diverse artists and leaders at the vanguard of classical music. Prior to the festival, scheduled for the final weekend of July, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform two weeks of programs with Alsop conducting. From the start of August, guest conductors will lead the CSO in various programs, including semi-staged operas. All trains on the Union Pacific–North Line will honor tickets to performances as train fares to and from Ravinia Park on the day of the event. Patrons can display their e-ticket to the concert.
