STILLWATER, MN — More than 100 people from the Stillwater area are set to make a splash Monday to support Special Olympics Minnesota. A "Cool School" Polar Plunge scheduled for March 28 at Stillwater Area High School has raised almost $8,700, as of Wednesday afternoon, with 115 people gathering donations and pledging to jump into a mobile pool next week. This will be the first year the school hosts a "Cool School" plunge. Afton To Honor History-Making Olympian Jessie Diggins Organizers have set a $20,000 goal for the event, according to the official Polar Plunge website. The Ponies TRUST Club team leads the way in fundraising, with more than three dozen team members bringing in just under $4,900, as of Wednesday. The TRUST (True Respect Unifies Students Together) Club gives students at Stillwater Area High School "a new outlook on kids with disabilities" and provides "a unique opportunity for students with and without disabilities to work through educational and physical activities and come together on equal terms," according to the school. Stillwater Bantam AA Hockey Team Finishes 3rd At State Tournament The SAHS Boys Hockey Polar Plunge team has raised more than $1,000 for Monday's event. The "Cool School" Polar Plunge is set to start at 8 a.m. March 28 at Stillwater Area High School. More than 100 athletes from Minnesota are expected to compete in June at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando.
