3 Proposed Projects In St. Louis Park: What Residents Should Know

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — There are currently three major developments that have been proposed in St. Louis Park. All three are in various stages of the approval process. Two out of the three proposals are related to the Southwest light-rail line, which will go through St. Louis Park. Beltline Station Development This Beltline Station development would be a mixed-use, transit-oriented development located along the Southwest light-rail line. The building site is near Highway 7 and 3130 Monterey Avenue South. In 2018, the St. Louis Park Economic Development Authority entered into an agreement with Sherman Development Associates LLC to develop the site. The developer submitted update plans in January, and more updates are expected in March. The developer's current proposal includes two apartment buildings and a mixed-use building with retail space. There will also be a park-and-ride structure with commercial space. The Southwest light-rail is slated to open in 2027. The project will have 16 stations in five cities: Eden Prairie: SouthWest Station, Town Center Station, Golden Triangle, City WestMinnetonka: Opus StationHopkins: Shady Oak, Downtown Hopkins, Blake RoadSt. Louis Park: Louisiana Avenue, Wooddale Avenue, Beltline BoulevardMinneapolis: West Lake Street, West 21st Street, Bryn Mawr, Bassett Creek Valley, Royalston Avenue/Farmers MarketThe line ends at Target Field station in Minneapolis. Wooddale Station Development Located at 5950 36th Street West, the Wooddale Station Development would be a mixed-use, mixed-income, transit-oriented development along the Southwest light-rail line. In February 2021, the St. Louis Park Economic Development Authority entered into an agreement with Anderson Companies and Saturday Properties to develop the site The proposal includes a building featuring 17,000 square feet of space for commercial use, plus room 294 residential units. The developer is expected to submit planning and zoning applications in April. Learn more about the project here. Wooddale Affordable Apartments (Aldersgate) Real Estate Equities has proposed a 114-unit workforce housing development on the site of Aldersgate Church at 3801 Wooddale Avenue South.
