Description
CHARLOTTE, NC — A fire that broke out in the atrium area of Charlotte Douglas International Airport was ruled an accident and started in the ventilation system of a restaurant, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.
One person was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and firefighters were able to control the fire within 50 minutes, according to fire officials.
The fire started in the ventilation ducts of the hood system above the grill area, and caused airport officials to evacuate people from the atrium area into the concourses. Air traffic continued as normal.
