BERKELEY, CA — The city of Berkeley will hold a rally this afternoon in support of Ukraine, Mayor Jesse Arreguín said in a statement.
The rally is being held to commemorate the 1-month anniversary of Europe's biggest post-World War II conflict.
The rally will be held from 5 to 5:30 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park (2151 Martin Luther King Jr. Way).
Ukrainian-American community members along with city officials are expected speak at the event.
"Today, one month after Russia's war with Ukraine began, the City of Berkeley will be hosting a rally and flag raising in support of the people of Ukraine," Arreguín said.
"This is in response to Ukrainian President Zelensky's call for people around the world to hold rallies on this day."
