Here are the top three stories in Grand Rapids today: A $975,000 grant has been given to Disability Advocates of Kent County to support their work with the state's low-income seniors population. The grant will enable the organization to expand its efforts into Allegan, Ionia, Mecosta, Montcalm, and Osceola counties. The grant is being provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. (MiBiz: West Michigan Business News)The Grand Rapids Fire Department will rename its Franklin Street Fire Station to the Martin Luther King Jr. Fire Station next week. The change is because the street that the fire station currently resides on was renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Street in February. The renaming ceremony will occur on Mar. 30 at 12:30 p.m. (FOX 17 West Michigan News)The Grand Rapids Fire Department rescued a man from the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids on Wednesday. According to the department, a man jumped into the river and he was unresponsive when the department rescued him. The man is currently recovering at a local hospital.
