UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The popular Hippo Playground on the Upper West Side announced recently that its Spring Fair will return after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Spring Fair will take place within Riverside Park playground at West 91st St. on May 1st, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will include pony rides, games, a petting zoo, a bounce house, and a slide. "We are so excited to announce that the Hippo Spring Fair will be on Sunday, May 1st," The Hippo Playground Project wrote on Facebook. "Mark your calendars!" Proceeds from the fair will go to financing the park's summer programs, including the Art in the Park classes and the Summer Concert Series. Money raised will also fund upgrades and enhancements for playgrounds throughout Riverside Park. The Hippo Playground Project is a volunteer group that manages and maintains the site, ensuring that "the playground is a safe and attractive place for play." The group was founded by Upper West Side moms in the eighties. You can find out more about the Spring Fair on the Hippo Playground's Facebook page. ILoveTheUpperWestSide was the first publication to report on the fair returning.
