Description

From Anchorage Chamber of Commerce: March 23, 2022 Dear Artists and Art-related Organizations: This year's call for Alaskan artists to enter the Alaska Railroad's annual art print contest is significant. We're looking for ideas and talent to help depict our 100th Anniversary on our 2023 official art print and poster. Next year we celebrate our centennial, and the print/poster will be part of the greater celebration. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure with a connection to a beloved 100-year-old icon of Alaska. Specifically, we're looking for sketched ideas at this point, and submissions are due at the end of March. Please submit your ideas to me, either by mail or hand-deliver (instructions on the form). We request PHYSICAL submissions that include your sketched idea, along with several copies of your completed artwork (to give us a sense of your style). The selected artist will have until mid-August to complete 2-dimensional artwork, which then becomes the basis for the 2023 art print, poster, and other official railroad merchandise. ORGANIZATIONS: Please print and post the attached flyer in common areas. Please also forward the flyer and a brief message to your members and partners as you see fit. ARTISTS: Please read the attached news release for details of the contests, and please submit your idea, along with your completed Artists Application form. On our alaskarailroad.com/corporate/community page, you'll find more information, including a booklet with images of previous year's art prints dating back to 1988. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at 907-265-2242, [email protected]; or Stephenie Wheeler at 265-2671, [email protected]. We look forward to seeking your work and ideas.
