Lake View Gets $24K For New Police Department Cameras

LAKE VIEW, AL — The City of Lake View has been awarded $24,000 in funding by Gov. Kay Ivey as part of a round of grants for law enforcement equipment. Click here to subscribe to our free Tuscaloosa Daily newsletter and breaking news alerts Lake View will use the funding to purchase cameras for the Lake View Police Department's patrol units, officers and for use within the police department. On Thursday, Ivy announced a round of grants totaling $115,761 to help five law enforcement agencies in Alabama. "It's important for local law enforcement to keep equipment up-to-date as it helps them be better prepared for what they may face on any given day as they protect and serve our communities," Ivey said. "I am pleased to assist these police departments and sheriffs' offices in their efforts to keep their officers and communities safe." In Winston County, for instance, $23,471 was awarded to the Winston County Commission to purchase new Tasers and speed detection radars for patrol vehicles for the Winston County Sheriff's Office. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will administer the grants from funding made available by the U.S. Department of Justice.
