School Hosts Fundraising Broadway-Themed Concert For Ukraine

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY — Molloy College is hosting a one-night-only musical benefit to raise funds for the victims of the War in Ukraine. "What we do well here at Molloy is, we have a wonderful theater, the Madison Theater, and we have this musical theater program that's really terrific called Cap21," School president, Dr. James Lentini, told Patch. "So it makes sense for us to do something around our strengths." Lentini said the idea became reality with help from Ernie Canadeo, a board member at the Long Island Association. The school was able to get performers from Broadway's "Phantom of the Opera" and Billy Joel's longtime saxophonist Richie Cannata. Louis Pannullo is a co-producer of the event scheduled for April 5 at 7 p.m. The school's artistic director Angelo Fraboni assisted in assembling the show. "It's amazing how fast it came together," Lentini said. Tickets are between $50 and $100 with all proceeds going to Catholic Relief Services, who will send it to Ukraine. The school is also giving the option to donate directly to the charity without purchasing the ticket. Lentini said the school sold dozens of tickets as soon as the concert was announced. "Hopefully we'll get a good crowd and it's going to an unbelievably good cause," Lentini said.
