Description
I am a local coordinator in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area for CIEE, a nonprofit that aims to provide cross-cultural connections to students worldwide. My job is to find volunteer host families in the community that would be willing to open their home to provide an unforgettable experience to an international exchange student! The students will come in August, but we are placing now to ensure their placements in school. We have students from all over the world, many of which come from Germany, Italy, Pakistan, and Brazil. Host families look like all different shapes and sizes: "nuclear" families, childless families, single parents, a person and their dog, empty nesters, etc as long as they can provide a safe and loving home.
Some extra information:
- Host families just need to provide shelter and food for 3 meals a day (cereal in the pantry or other foods the student can prepare themselves count)
- Students will become a child like one of your own while they are here! They participate in family activities and know they are to help out with chores.
- Students will attend the high school closest to the host family's home.
- Students come with their own pocket money for personal expenses.
- Host students for a semester or for a full academic year!
- All students come with health insurance through the program and are vaccinated.
- Many families that host end up with an everlasting bond and have visited their students' home in their home countries!
If you are interested or know anybody that would be interested, please contact me!
-- Anybody that refers a family that ends up hosting RECEIVES $200 FROM THE PROGRAM :) --
