All Star Labor and Staffing is currently looking for a QA for a steel manufacturing company located in the Eugene area. General Description of Job: The Quality Assurance Manager ensures that the organization’s products and services are in compliance with the company’s quality requirements, in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety, and reliability. Essential Job Tasks: • Responsible for the development, implementation, and adherence to Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and AS9100). • Develops and/or reviews standards, policies, and procedures for all functions and departments involved with or related to the production of all products. • Reviews and resolves quality control problems/concerns with the Quality Control Supervisor and others including; suppliers, customers, quality control personnel, and any personnel related to production. • Monitors supplier quality and makes recommendations for issuing corrective and preventive actions as required. • Periodically reviews completed quality control checklists, forms, and other documents; randomly inspects and verifies quality control checks for conformance to prescribed standards. • Schedules and oversees internal and external Quality Audit programs and reports findings to Senior Management, develops corrective action plans and ensures timely resolution of findings. • Receives and reviews all customer complaints. Reviews complaint trends and product/component failure analysis; develops and reviews corrective actions with appropriate personnel. • Prepares reports and other documentation required by customers and regulatory agencies to support the quality function. • Directs quality-related activities in conjunction with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, and any other department/function that affects the quality of the organization’s goods or services. Other Job Tasks: • Able to organize and lead meetings and training sessions with company and/or department personnel on a variety of topics including root cause analysis. • Travel to supplier or customer facilities as appropriate. • Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising inspection methods and procedures. • Creates product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures. • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and customer and regulatory agency requirements. • Collaborates with other members of management to develop new product and manufacturing training methods. • Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. • Ensures quality assurance operational requirements are met. • Develops quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. • Manages quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. • Ensures quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, or participating in professional societies. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements: • Leadership • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Analytic skills • Collaboration skills • Product management skills • QA process skills • Strong computer knowledge and skills • Excellent knowledge of Quality Management, including principals, requirements and standards • Must be well organized • Time Management skills • Detail oriented • Multi-tasking skills • Self-directed and motivated Education, License, and Certification Requirements: • College degree in Quality Management and/or 5-7 years of experience in a related field or discipline. Certifications preferred. Amount of Supervision Required to Perform Job: ¬ • Must be able to perform with minimal supervision. Machines and Tools Used: • Computer. • Broad range of precision measuring equipment. Reports to: Controller Supervises: Quality Supervisor. Appropriate Work Attire: • Leather boots that cover the ankle are required. • Tank tops are not allowed, but cut off sleeves are permitted. • Clothing that displays profanity, obscenities, or anything inappropriate is not permitted. • Clothing must not have obvious holes or tears. • Superior Steel frequently has guests tour the shop; therefore, we ask that employees maintain a professional Appearance. • Safety glasses must be worn at all times in the production shop and outside. • Denim or work pants are required. • Sweat pants, shorts, and tennis shoes are not allowed. • Gloves are recommended for some tasks but may be hazardous while performing other tasks. • Ear protection must be worn in the grinding room. • Ask your supervisor for specific information concerning your task. Environmental Factors and Working Conditions: • Work atmosphere is mostly indoors and can be noisy and dusty. • Outside weather conditions affect shop temperature. • Shop is partially heated in winter. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR DEMANDS: Standing (% of time, type of surface, activity): 40% on concrete floor. Sitting (% of time, type of surface, activity): 30% on stool or chair. Walking (% of time, type of surface, distance): 30% on concrete floor, distance varies. How often can worker change position? Frequently. Carrying (weight, type of object, distance, frequency): Up to 50lbs. of fabricated parts no more than 30feet frequently. Lifting (weight, type of object, frequency): Up to 50lbs. of fabricated parts occasionally. Fabricated parts under 10lbs. frequently. Pushing/Pulling (weight, type of object, frequency): A pallet or jack with a 5,000 or 2,500 pound capacity occasionally. Bending (frequency from waist, knees): Frequently from the knees and seldom from the hip. Reaching/Grasping (work being done, distance, frequency): Fine manipulation frequently. Occasional over-the-head manipulation, reaching, or grasping. Repetitive Motion (work being done, body parts used, frequency): Very little repetitive motion. Twisting (work being done, body parts used, how far, frequency): From all joints frequently. A full range of motion is necessary. Climbing (surface, height, slope, number of steps, frequency): 10 feet at a moderate slope with 18 steps up to the breakroom and restroom occasionally. 3 feet of steps at a 90 degree angle slope to get on the forklift occasionally.
