Established songwriting duo seeking BASS, DRUMS, KEYS!
Meets
Madison WI
Description
I'm an experienced guitarist, working with a wonderful songwriting partner - a female vocalist whom I've been writing, performing/recording with for going on ten years. We used to have a band together that won a Madison Area Music Award for breakthrough artist back in 2017. We've performed many times at the High Noon, Capital Brewery, Brink Lounge, and other venues around Madison. The old band dissolved a few years back, but we, as the core songwriting duo, have continued shaping new material and are ready to take another swing at building a band back up. We have roughly 5 or 6 new songs that we've written this winter and have a back catalog of 20 or 30 originals. The goal is to keep evolving our sound and that will depend on what kind of other musicians we're able to recruit. It's undecided how much of the old material we will choose to revitalize, and it's very possible that with the addition of new members that we may start anew. We're both in our 30's and play 95% original material. The goal is to play probably 1-3 shows per month (I'd say likely within an hour of Madison... at least for a while), we would rehearse weekly or bi-weekly (we don't have a practice spot, but we are willing to invest when we find the rest of the band). Our sound can be described as melodic, hooky, somewhat sophisticated (nothing crazy) and is a combination of pop, rock, blues, indie, folk, and soul. We're looking for a drummer that plays with nuance and dynamics. This is not going to be a super loud band, but we do like to rock things up every now and then (think Alabama Shakes, Lake Street Dive, Company of Thieves). We need a solid timekeeper who knows how to groove, make things danceable, and has influence ranging from funk, hip hop, pop music, and a touch of rock and roll. Bass - someone who plays melodically and can throw a little flair in from time to time (think Flea, Vic Wooten). Being solid in the pocket and knowing when to open things up and add more or pull back and just lock in with the drummer. Also seeking a keys player who can add texture and sophistication, without overplaying. It would be great if you have additional sounds available like organ, strings, synth, and sound effects. The goal with this is to continue writing, recording, performing, and doing it near the top level of the local scene. We are looking for committed players who understand that an original project doesn't have much money in it (hopefully that could change once we get the right people in place). We hope to work with people who are fun and laid back but also take the craft seriously enough to kick some ass doing it. To be a part of this group you'll need to be punctual and reliable, have transportation, place an emphasis on communication, and be a team player. It would be awesome if you have stage & studio experience, along with solid gear. Let's talk!
