i used to work on one of the streets off of Tait Terrace in Norfolk, and this guy Curtis lived in the corner house next door to the commercial building that I worked at. he was an older black man who was a big guy that weighed close to 300 pounds probably, and was at least 40 yrs old back then. I was a younger white guy about 19 yrs old at the time. now I am 48 yrs old, so it's been like 25-28 yrs passed since that time, and he may not even be alive anymore.He really was nice to me,though. I met him after working there for a couple months and my car broke down and wouldn't start after work. he tried to help me get it started, but neither of us was mechanical enough to get it started. He offered to let me stay the night at his pace that night because he said he wasn't gonna drive after he had been drinking that night. Helet meget a shower at his house,fed me food, and gave me a place to lay down for the night. The next day after work, i still couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car, and after hours of trying to figure out what was wrong with my car, he offered to give me a ride home, which i accepted and was very grateful for. The third day,he came and picked me up for work like he said the previous night he would do for me again, and he had a mechanic come over and figure out what was wrong with my car while I was still at work, and when I went over that third night of my car being broke dowm, those men had my car fixed. After that, Mr. Curtis was a man I would visit often for years to come, even when I left that job and went elsewhere to work, and he, myself, and Mike, his mechanic would get together at his place for a night of drinking and cooking out and just spending time together for a night. then one day, Curtis had moved after it had been a while since I had stopped in to visit him, and i haven't seen the man since then. I never did even know where mike the mechanic lived. We had some really good times together, though, getting together and drinking beer or mixed drinks,smoking weed, and eating grilled foods all night long, sometimes even into the daylight of the next morning.sometimes i really miss them two huge older guys a whole lot
