YARDLEY, PA — State Rep. Perry Warren's office in Yardley has been closed "as a precaution against community spread of COVID-19." A news release from Warren's office said Warren has not knowingly been in contact with anyone who was exposed to the coronavirus. But the office, at 91 S. Main St., is temporarily closed and staff is working remotely to handle constituent services. "Out of an abundance of caution, Rep. Warren's district office will temporarily close, staff will work remotely, and Rep. Warren will work remotely and from his Capitol office until tracing confirms the Yardley office to be safe for everyone," said Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus Chief of Staff Paul Parsells. The news release did not specifically say whether someone in the office had been exposed or give any other detailed reason for the closure. A spokesman for Warren said that, due to privacy requirements, no more information could be released. But, in a quote attributed to Warren, the state representative asks anyone with COVID-19 who visited the office on or after Aug. 17 to inform contact tracers of that fact. "Contact tracing saves lives and is the fastest way to stem community spread among neighbors, co-workers, friends and family members where we work, shop and recreate," Warren said. For the past couple of weeks, new coronavirus cases in Bucks County have been at what health officials call a low baseline number and hospitalizations have dropped, with just one person in critical condition and on a ventilator as of Monday. While the local office is closed, constituents may call the office for services at 215-493-5420 or email [email protected]. "My staff is well-versed in helping constituents while working remotely," Warren said. Warren, a Democrat, represents Yardley, Lower Makefield, Newtown and parts of Morrisville. He said he encourages anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 to work with contact tracers when they are contacted.
