YARDLEY, PA — A longtime nursery school in Yardley has closed its doors for good, citing difficulties related to the coronavirus shutdown. St. Andrew's Nursery School, at 45 W. Afton Ave., announced that it was closing effective immediately. "It has been a difficult six months being temporarily closed due to COVID-19, and the combination of financial distress coupled with needed upgrades to the school building are more than we are able to handle," the nursery school said in a social media post. The nursery school, next to Lake Afton, was opened by St. Andrew's Church in 1964. The post called it an honor to serve the community through the years. "We are devastated at this abrupt ending, but we want to sincerely thank all families — past and present — for being a part of our family all these years," the post said. "We will miss all of you. We hope that you will always look back with fondness and love on your time at our school. We know we will have a St. Andrew's Nursery School-shaped hole in our hearts for a long time to come." The nursery school will be leaving its Facebook page active to allow families to keep in touch.
