Fireside Chat with Poet and Playwright John Ronan. In Partnership with Schooner Adventure. Join us in welcoming John Ronan, a poet, playwright, movie producer, and journalist. Ronan will be reading from his most recent book, "Taking the Train of Singularity South from Midtown”. The general theme of this book, and a number of its individual poems, is that love and language create community. There is little self- reference and confession. Set in Gloucester, New York, or Paris, in Panama or Newtown, the poems come from a commitment to civic poetry, a poetry of social place and witness. John will be introduced by Ken Riaf. Besides serving on the Schooner Adventure Board, Ken Riaf is an Attorney at Law in Gloucester and a former commercial scallop and gillnet fisherman. He has been a visiting professor at Endicott College and Salem State College. This Author Talk is free admission, food and drinks are available for purchase. Light refreshments will be provided.
