Press release from the Sacramento Public Library: December 17, 2020 In partnership with the City of Sacramento, as well as, other community-based organizations and non-profits, Sacramento Public Library is helping to bring internet services at no-cost to eligible residents. More than 1,400 Wi-Fi hotspots are available through the library as part of the City of Sacramento's Digital Equity Response Program and funded by the $89 million the City received from the federal CARES act. "The pandemic has demonstrated how acute the digital divide is in Sacramento. So many in our community are struggling without access to reliable, affordable broadband at home," said Library Deputy Director Jarrid Keller. "These Wi-Fi hotspots will provide one year of connectivity for city residents at a time when digital connections are essential to our daily life from distance learning and remote work to media consumption and job searching." City of Sacramento residents impacted by COVID-19 can get free Wi-Fi by: Applying for a hotspot before December 30. The hotspots provide free internet access for up to one year. To be eligible to request a hotspot, you must be a City of Sacramento resident who has been impacted by COVID-19. Apply for a hotspot by calling (916) 264-2920 or use the form below. Checking out a hotspot from the Lucky Day Collection for six weeks at City of Sacramento locations using curbside service staring December 18. To checkout a hotspot, visit the library and text "hotspot" using the number posted for curbside pickup. The Lucky Day hotspots are only available at these City of Sacramento locations: Belle Cooledge, Central, Colonial Heights, Del Paso Heights, Martin Luther King, Jr., McKinley, North Natomas, North Sacramento – Hagginwood, Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven, South Natomas, and Valley Hi-North Laguna.
