FALLSINGTON, PA — Pennsbury School District's board will decide between an entirely remote school reopening plan and one that is a mix of online and in-person classes.
Tuesday night, the school board's education committee met to hear details of the plans from the district's administration.
A recording of Tuesday's committee meeting can be viewed here.
In basic terms, the two options for reopening are:
A virtual option, under which classes would be taught by Pennsbury staff five days a week online when schools open on Sept. 8. Students would get more direction instruction from teachers, school board President T.R. Kannan noted in a social media post, but it would be virtual.A hybrid option, under which students would be in school for two days each week and work remotely, on their own schedules, for three days. This option would give students in-person contact with teachers, but only for two days per week. The school board is expected to vote on a reopening plan, as well as an athletics plan, at a meeting on Thursday. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be viewed here.
Kannan said board members have been hearing from parents with "varied preferences" for the reopening. On his Facebook page, he posted a poll asking parents whether they'd prefer the remote or hybrid option.
