Description

Night at the Museum with Amanda O’Shaughnessy! In this intimate printmaking workshop with Amanda O'Shaughnessy, you will play upon Kansas City's historic music scene by using various texture tools, cut paper shapes of jazz instruments and bright color as you create your own multi-layered monoprints. Participants will use acrylic paints, Gelli Arts printmaking plates and photographs from the Kansas City Museum’s collection to create unique works of art. These fresh prints will have their own special rhythm, spontaneity and style. What is a monoprint? A monoprint is essentially a one-off print that is one-of-a-kinda. With a lot of printmaking, the goal can be to make multiple prints that are identical to one another. That is not the case when monoprinting–each pull of the paper from the press reveals an individual result. No prior experience necessary—all printing and collage techniques will be demonstrated. This workshop is geared for adults. This printmaking workshop is inspired by the intimate musical events that gather audiences in the The Sunderland Foundation Living Room and The Betty Milbank Waldrop Salon here at the museum, along with the Kansas City Museum's gallery featuring the Curating a Museum: A History of El Torreon and Cowtown Ballroom exhibit.
