Learn about finance from an Islamic perspective with Dr. Tamim Saidi! Managing finances may be a daunting task, and there are many different factors and techniques that can assist in successfully organizing money. In Islam there are also many ways and rules to follow in order to manage money and navigate spending. This event takes place on Tuesday, March 29th in the Mississippi Room of Coffman Memorial Union. Dr. Tamim Saidi will be leading a talk in Islamic finance, followed by question and answer and interactive activities to educate attendees in managing finance from an Islamic perspective. Food will be served. About Tamim Saidi: Dr. Saidi was born in Afghanistan. As a teenager, he was forced to leave his family behind and flee to Pakistan as a refugee. He came to the US in 1990 and has considered MN home ever since. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from U of MN and currently works as a Consultant Pharmacist. He has completed a 2-year Multi-Religious Fellowship Program with the Collegeville Institute. Currently he’s completing the last semester of his Master of Divinity Degree from Bayan Graduate School & Chicago Theological Seminary. He has served in many community activities, including former VP of Islamic Resource Group, former President and a founding member of the MYLA Scholarship, a leader, organizer, and counselor with Muslim Youth of MN (MYM), a member of the Council of Trustees of the Islamic Center of MN, and Al-Amal School Board of Directors. Currently, he is the president & founder of a newly formed organization called Noursury, which aims to provide no-interest micro-loans to eligible borrowers. He has spoken and presented to thousands of Minnesotans about Islam and Muslims’ culture and way of life.  Some of his articles and op/eds have appeared at EngageMN, Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, USA Today, St. Cloud Times, and MN Daily.
