PALMETTO, FL — A Palmetto drug dealer has been sentenced to nearly 21 years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and 400 grams or more of fentanyl, according to a Department of Justice news release. Antonio Nunez III, 34, pleaded guilty to the charges on Oct. 31, 2019. He'll spend 20 years and 10 months in prison. Starting in March 2016 and continuing through May 2019, Nunez and his co-defendant, Antoine Waiters, conspired to possess heroin, fentanyl and other controlled substances and to sell the drugs from a trap house in Palmetto, according to court documents. They distributed at least one kilogram of heroin and at least 400 grams of fentanyl, selling fentanyl to confidential sources on multiple occasions, the DOJ said. More than $30,000 in U.S. currency, assorted jewelry and two vehicles were forfeited as proceeds of the conspiracy.
