An interactive experience where a student-created play is the vehicle for creating social change.
WHAT
Scholars for Justice (SFJ) is a Legislative Theatre project, where a student-created play is the vehicle for interacting with the broader Birmingham community (policy-makers, community members, other students) with the ultimate goal of generating policy ideas by the students. These "policies" may be formal or informal.
(You can stay up to speed at bit.ly/scholarsforjustice!)
THE PROCESS
WATCH a short (5-7 min) play based on issues from the students
ACT on stage to offer alternative solutions to the issues presented
PROPOSE ideas for new policies around the issues at hand
VOTE on the policies you want to see passed
The Scholars for Justice team will write a report with our findings following the event.
