Update: 11:11 a.m. STAMFORD, CT — Police said a 69-year-old woman is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car in Stamford early Wednesday morning. At around 6:19 a.m., police said the woman was hit by a 2015 Chevy driven by a 26-year-old Shelton resident, who was exiting I-95 southbound at exit 9. According to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS), the Chevy was at the top of the ramp and made a right turn onto East Main Street. As the Chevy was making the turn, it struck the woman who was crossing the exit ramp walking westbound on East Main Street. Booth said the initial investigation shows the woman was in the crosswalk when she was struck. She was taken to Stamford Hospital where she is currently undergoing treatment, police said. The I-95 off ramp was closed for over three hours while investigators worked on the scene, but it is now open, Booth said. Jeffrey Booth, supervisor of the Stamford Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS). The ramp is now open. Booth said the woman is currently being treated at Stamford Hospital. More information is expected to be released by the SPD soon, Booth said.
