Description
MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Marlborough nonprofit that supports developmentally disabled adults and children will host its first ever prom this year.
Thrive Support & Advocacy's "Prom for All Ages" will take place at Polar Park in Worcester in May, offering people served by the nonprofit a traditional prom experience, including music, food and a red carpet.
"Remember what it was like to attend your high school prom? The excitement, the anticipation, getting dressed up and dancing all night long. A great many people in our community never had that experience," Thrive said in an announcement.
Marlborough-based Thrive serves about 1,000 adults and children across MetroWest and central Massachusetts through activities ranging from sports to karaoke. The nonprofit also operates four group homes for adults and educational programs for young people.
Thrive is fundraising now for the all-ages prom — and its other programs — ahead of the May 27 event. Anyone interested in helping to sponsor or participate in the prom can email Director of Operations Ellen Murphy at [email protected] or Executive Director Sean Rose at [email protected].
