RENTON, WA — Renton neighbors will have a chance next month to shred confidential documents, safely dispose of prescription drugs and donate food during the Renton Police Department's drive-thru Shred-A-Thon event at Renton Memorial Stadium.
Scheduled for April 30, residents can head down to the stadium between 9 a.m. and noon and volunteers will take items directly from trunks and truck beds.
Here's what will be accepted at this year's Shred-A-Thon:
Prescription drugs
Unused or expired prescriptions (controlled and non-controlled substances), along with over-the-counter medications.Solid pills and capsules may be in their container or placed in a bag.Liquid drugs must be in original containers.The event cannot accept intravenous solutions, injectables, needles, inhalers, stringers, chemotherapy medications, medical waste and vaping devices that cannot have their batteries removed. Residents can bring up to five boxes of documents for safe disposal.The event cannot accept 3-ring binders, notebooks, binder clips, CDs, plastic or electronics. Food drive
Donations of canned food, dry goods and money will benefit the Renton Salvation Army Food Bank. All visitors are asked to remain in their vehicle for the event and place items in their trunk, hatchbacks, or truck beds before arrival.
