Orange Detective Helps With 'Ghost Guns' Investigation, Raid

ORANGE, CT — An Orange Police Department detective was part of a task force that led to the seizure of several "ghost guns"and an arrest, officials said. On Monday, raids were conducted at undisclosed locations in Shelton, Waterbury and Wolcott following a long-term investigation into the illegal trafficking of "ghost guns" — guns without a serial number that are illegally sold and manufactured. "We're very proud to be able to participate in cases like this one and especially proud of our detective assigned to this task force," Orange police said on Facebook. "The pictures speak for themselves, but there's no doubt that our local communities are safer now with these guns and drugs off the street. Outstanding work by all involved!!" Police didn't specify which detective was assigned to the task force. The weapons seized included AR-15 variant rifles and handguns, high-capacity magazines and ammunition; and narcotics and other contraband were taken as well, state police said. One person — Bryan Joyce, 36, of Southington — was arrested and charged with weapons and narcotics related violations stemming from the investigation, though police said they anticipate more arrests.
