REDMOND, WA — Lake Washington students will have classes on the day after Memorial Day this year after the district finalized plans to make up for cancellations during the January snowstorm. District officials announced they would utilize their "built-in" snow make-up day this year, adding a full day for students on May 31 to replace the missed day of classes on Jan. 3. The date, the Tuesday after Memorial Day, functions as a make-up day when needed. A series of winter storms impacted Puget Sound starting around Christmas and lingered through the first week of January, packing record snowfall in some areas followed by flooding and landslides.
