BUFFALO, NY — An Ohio man wanted on felony warrants in Fairfax County for burglarizing two jewelry stores was arrested on Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Buffalo, New York. The man, Julius K. Alls, 49, of Columbus, Ohio, is awaiting extradition to Virginia, the CBP said Tuesday. On March 18, CBP officers stopped a vehicle on the Peace Bridge, which connects Buffalo to Fort Erie in Ontario, Canada. The driver of the vehicle inadvertently entered the Peace Bridge and then made a U-turn, according to the CBP. Because the vehicle turned onto the bridge, an international crossing, a customs inspection had to be completed. The driver of the vehicle did not have any identification with him, according to the CBP. The occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, were then subject to a further inspection, where their identification and citizenship were checked. During this inspection, CBP officers learned that Alls, a passenger in the vehicle, had active National Crime Information Center felony warrants from the Fairfax County Police Department, according to the CBP. Police had charged Alls with felonies in two incidents in Fairfax County. On Nov. 11, 2020, two suspects forced their way into Yas & Co. Jewelers at Fair Oaks Mall and stole multiple items, according to the FCPD. On March 10, 2021, two suspects forced their way into the Jewelry Box at Springfield Mall and stole multiple items. Fairfax County detectives assigned to the cases noticed similarities in the incidents. In their investigation, they identified both suspects, with Alls being one of them, Fairfax County Police said. The police department charged Alls with grand larceny, larceny with the intent to distribute, and burglary for the incident at Yas & Co. Jewelers. He was charged with destruction of property, burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglarious tools, and larceny with the intent to sell for the incident at the Jewelry Box, according to the FCPD. After processing and confirming the felony warrants last Friday, Alls was turned over to the Buffalo Police Department and is currently in the custody of the Erie County Sheriff's Office awaiting extradition to Fairfax County, the CBP said.
