HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - The misreading of a sign led to a box truck jamming intself into an underpass on Friday, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.
According to officials, shortly after 11 a.m. Hackettstown Police responded to Grand Avenue for a report of truck stuck in the underpass and found a 2015 Mitsubishi box truck wedged underneath.
Police said 52-year-old Carey Cunningham of Folcroft, P. was travelling north on Grand Avenue when he misread the height sign for the underpass as 11'8" The underpass is 10'8" and the trucks height was 11'1."
Carey released air from the tires to get the truck out of the underpass. No injuries were reported, police said, noting that Grand Avenue was closed between College View Drive and Allen Road for approximately one hour.
Carey was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.
