Press release from the Johnston Community School District: March 18, 2022 The Iowa Girls' High School Athletic Union & The Iowa High School Athletic Association recognizes those teams and cheerleading squads which collectively have excelled in the classroom. Each student-athlete on the team will receive a certificate for their personal accomplishment, and the achievement will go on record at the respective associations.There are two awards which may be earned: Excellence in Academic Achievement AwardThis award will be given to teams achieving a combined grade point average of 3.0-3.24.Distinguished in Academic Achievement AwardThis award will be given to teams achieving a combined grade point average of 3.25 and above.
