COLLINGSWOOD, NJ – A dog that spent some time with the Collingswood Police Department is now back with its owner, a law enforcement official told Patch. The husky was found around 9 p.m. on March 4 near West Collings and Richey Avenues, Police Captain Thomas Hartshaw said in an interview. The dog's "owner could not be located in a reasonable amount of time, and after spending some much-needed quality time with members of the police department's third platoon," the husky was passed on to animal control and then onto the animal orphanage in Voorhees, he added. "The majority of the members of the Collingswood Police Department are pet owners," Hartshaw continued. "They know the traumatic feelings the owner of a lost pet feels and the anxiety an animal feels being separated from their owner." Thus, it was only logical the police department treat the dog with the "same service, integrity, respect and compassion" that the police department shows people, the police captain said. The owner of the husky saw a posting about the dog on the police department's Facebook page and has since been reunited with his canine companion, Hartshaw added. --- Hi there, South Jersey!
