YORKVILLE, IL — During the recent Thanksgiving enforcement effort from Nov. 20 through Monday, the Yorkville Police Department increased traffic patrols aimed at targeting impaired drivers. According to a news release from the police department, police throughout the state participated in this effort to decrease the number of highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the roads, and more people buckled up.
During this period, Yorkville police took the following enforcement actions, according to the news release:
3 suspended/revoked licenses3 uninsured motorists7 speeding citations3 drug arrests According to the news release, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours throughout the mobilization period, as this is when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.

The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety fundsadministered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober orGet Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns, the news release said.
