Description
SALEM, NH — Signups have begun for the Salem Charter Commission special election slated for late April.
Residents in town who want to be elected to one of the nine seats on the commission can sign up to run between March 30 and April 8. All candidates must be registered voters in town. Filing will be held at the town clerk's office, 33 Geremonty Drive, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The proposal to hold a charter commission election and commission was approved during the 2022 town election by a nearly two-to-one margin. The nine members will consider whether or not to change the board of selectmen to a town council or mayor system.
