HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A student with a pending COVID-19 test that came back positive Thursday have caused the health and safety protocols to be enacted at Hackettstown High School, according to Superintendent David Mango. "Until this morning the district had no knowledge of the prior test or that results were pending," Mango said. "We first learned of the test when we were notified of the results. Upon learning of the positive results, the district's health and safety protocols were immediately put into action." According to their published plan the containment protocol for a confirmed case of student or faculty is: Possible school-wide virtual instruction for a day to allow health department to complete investigation and contact tracingAll students and faculty in class or on bus with a confirmed case are quarantined for 14 daysConfirmed case will isolate for at least 10 days since their symptoms first appeared and they have no fever for 24 hours (one full day without the use of medicine to reduce fever) and symptoms improved. "I share this with you to continue our commitment of transparency but also emphasize the importance of full and complete partnership," Mango said. "As I have indicated many times during public meetings and communications, this will only work if the district and parents are equal partners. For the safety of all, 'When in doubt, keep them out.'"
