Council awards contract for the Tonka-Woodcroft Improvements Project The city council awarded the contract for the Tonka-Woodcroft Improvements Project to R.L. Larson Excavating, Inc. in the amount of $23,227,889.57. The project will include street and utility improvements to correct deficiencies of the aged street and underlying utilities. The project also includes the Minnetonka Boulevard Trail Project segment from Woodlawn Avenue to Tonkawood Road. The council also adopted a resolution authorizing a "No Parking" zone and the installation of "No Parking" signs on Woodlawn Avenue. Council extends moratorium on issuance of new tobacco licenses The city council adopted a resolution extending the existing moratorium on the issuance of new tobacco licenses in the city through August 31, 2022. The council opted to delay introducing any of the tobacco ordinances presented, but will reconsider them at the April 11, 2022 regular council meeting after city staff has made revisions based on the feedback provided. Council approves the renaming of the Lindbergh Center and introduces ordinance to rename Lindbergh Drive The city council adopted a resolution accepting the renaming of the Lindbergh Center to "Royals Athletic Center". The council also introduced an ordinance that would rename Lindbergh Drive to "Royals Drive". City staff will work with property owners this spring to replace street signage, if the ordinance is adopted, and Hopkins Schools will lead the efforts in the facility name change. Council adopts ordinance amending ward boundaries and adopts precincts and polling places for 2022 The city council held a public hearing and adopted an ordinance amending city code section 105.010 establishing ward boundaries. The council also adopted a resolution establishing precincts and polling places for the 2022 elections. The new ward boundaries were introduced at the March 7, 2022 meeting. The number of precincts will decrease from 23 to 21. Council affirms shared vision statement and reconvenes the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force The city council approved a shared vision statement and reconvened the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force.
