OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (March 23, 2022) – Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) has named Bernard Hooper as the agency's new Chief Corporate Compliance and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer. Hooper's certification in healthcare compliance and experience in executive leadership and policy are essential in his new position at OCHN. Under the direction and leadership of OCHN's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Executive Director, Dana Lasenby, Hooper will oversee the development and implementation of the organization's compliance policies and procedures. This includes reporting matters of ethics and accountability to the CEO and OCHN's Board of Directors. Hooper will also lead the development and implementation of the OCHN DEI Strategic Plan. This includes developing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting key performance indicators regarding programmatic approach, internal and external DEI metrics, and organizational culture and practices. As the previous Corporate Compliance Officer at Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN), Hooper led the achievement of a three-year recertification from the National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA). His knowledge of NCQA guidelines will help to ensure the measurement, transparency and accountability of OCHN's policies and procedures, ensuring quality service outcomes for people. In addition, Hooper's skills and experience in community service over the past 20 years will promote the implementation of action plans for future resolutions related to legal and ethical issues. Hooper earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, as well as a master's in applied economics and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan, where he also received a certificate of excellence in health law. Hooper also serves on the Farmington Hills Commission on Community Health. About OCHN OCHN leads a provider service network that assists approximately 21,000 Oakland County citizensat more than 300 service sites across the county. People who receive public mental health servicesthrough OCHN's provider network include those who have an intellectual or developmental disability, mental health challenge, or substance use disorder. The majority of these individuals have Medicaid insurance coverage. OCHN's goal is to ensure these individuals are aware of and have access to services and supportsthat will improve their health and quality of life, as well as ensure their engagement in full community participation.
