GM Recalls 740K SUVs Because Headlights Are Too Bright

DETROIT — General Motors is recalling hundreds of thousands of squint-inducing SUVs because the headlights are too bright and can create a glare for other drivers. The Associated Press reported the recall, announced Tuesday, covers an estimated 740,000 GMC Terrain SUVs from 2010 through 2017. The headlight housings cause reflections that shine too much light on certain areas, documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. This poses a danger to other drivers by reducing their visibility and increasing the chances of a crash. "We are still finalizing an actual remedy for the affected vehicles," spokesman Dan Flores said, according to AP. A timeline for a fix wasn't immediately known, but GM plans to notify affected owners beginning April 23. The recall comes weeks after GM asked regulators to skip a recall. That request was denied by traffic safety regulators. GM said it received a single customer complaint about the headlights.
