Press release from the City of Wilkes-Barre: December 23, 2020 - 4:42pm Wilkes-Barre City Prepares for Potential High Water Event Due to a potential high water event beginning Thursday, December 24th, the City of Wilkes-Barre will be taking necessary precautions. The Solomon Creek flood gates will be closed at 8 AM on Thursday, December 24th, on the following streets: South Franklin Street, Regent Street, and Waller Street. The flood gates will remain through closed the weekend, based on National Weather Service recommendations. Barney Street will remain open, subject to the conditions of the creek over the next several days. A temporary wall will be constructed in the Warren Street area. All creeks in the city will be monitored and any issues will addressed as conditions warrant. This press release was produced by the City of Wilkes-Barre.
