Stoneberry Farm is a 12-acre certified organic farm in Athens, NY specializing in vegetable production. We also grow flowers for market bouquets as well as a small selection of fruit, including melons & husk cherries. Job Responsibilities: -Propagation and care of greenhouse seedlings -Transplanting -Weeding and other plant maintenance (trellising, pruning, some irrigation set-up, etc.) -Harvesting -Washing and packing of produce for wholesale and farmers’ market sales, plus occasional help with making flower bouquets Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone to join our farm crew who is motivated to learn about the growing process and dedicated to showing up each day with a willingness to work to the best of their ability. Experience working on a farm (or another outdoor job) is a plus but not a requirement as we carefully train and work alongside all crew members. A good attitude is a must as the work can be challenging, between the varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold, rain and wind) and tasks that are sometimes strenuous, tedious, and/or repetitive. We are looking for someone who is timely, reliable, hard-working and enjoys working both with a team and independently. Our crew members must be able to lift 50 pounds and be comfortable with bending, kneeling, lifting, squatting, and reaching repetitively. Schedule: Seasonal, from April 20-November 20. Full time–40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm We are also open to part time employees, so please inquire if you’re interested in a part time position (must be at least 3 days/week). Compensation: This is an hourly position starting at $15/hr with the potential for a raise after 3 months of employment. Additional benefits include paid lunch breaks, 3 paid days off per year (after completion of 2 months work) and access to farm produce.
