Woodridge 2020 Jubilee Canceled Amid Coronavirus Shutdown

WOODRIDGE, IL — The 2020 Woodridge Jubilee has been canceled amid the ongoing new coronavirus crisis. The Jubilee was set to celebrate its 38th year June 17 through 21 with carnival rides, games, food and live music. Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham said in a statement, "Jubilee week is one of my favorite times of the year — it always gives me great pride to see our community gather to enjoy a fun Woodridge tradition together. As it is, canceling Jubilee this year is in the best interest of our community and public health. Sign up for Patch news alerts and newsletters. Woodridge Park District Board President Bill Cohen said in a news release, "Canceling Jubilee is extremely disappointing for all of us. It is important to follow the advice of public health departments, and unfortunately, large summer festivals do not fit within the current CDC mass gathering and physical distancing guidelines." Cohen added, "We encourage residents to still enjoy exercise throughout Woodridge parks, paths, trails and now golf at Village Greens while maintaining physical distancing."
