CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Two men who killed a man in the course of a Phoenixville drug sale in 2017 have been sentence to terms of life in prison.
Judge Allison Bell Royer on Nov. 13 sentenced Brian Corsey Jr. and John G. Ortiz-Carr to life in prison and also to 5-10 years for conspiracy to commit robbery. A jury found the two men guilty after a six-day trial in Chester County earlier this year.
Corsey and Ortiz-Carr were convicted of Second Degree Murder, Robbery, and other charges related to a Decemeber 2017 shooting in Phoenixville.
The defendants used Snapchat to arrange a $400 marijuana sale to the victim, Jason Ortiz-Cameron, and a companion. They intended to rob the victim of the drugs and money but killed him during the robbery, the district attorney's office reported.
Robert McCoy, a third defendant, earlier pleaded guilty to Third Degree Murder and Robbery and awaits his sentencing.
Det. Nicholas Natale and Sgt. Patrick Mark of the Phoenixville Police Department and Sgt. Joseph Walton of the Chester County Detectives were the lead investigators. Senior Deputy District Attorney Carlos Barraza and Assistant District Attorney John McCaul were the assigned prosecutors.
